Beware an ad by the American Federation of Teachers airing now on WCHS. It says charter schools are “for profit,” and will take funds from public schools. This simply is a false statement.

Student promotion should be based not on recommendations but on achievement of curriculum objectives.

According to the article in your paper regarding lobbyists the West Virginia Coal Association reported spending $16,487 to lobby the legislators to reduce the coal tax by $60 million. Of course the spineless politicians agreed! My question is who do I lobby to get that kind of return on my investments?

Has anyone else ever wondered why abortion critics are never lined up at adoption offices?

Any West Virginian, including that Carmichael person, that is anti-union is ignorant of the history of labor in this great state.

It may or may not have anything to do with climate change, but anyone in denial about how gloomy and miserable the weather has become around here obviously does not own a convertible, a motorcycle, or a pleasure boat or does not spend much time outdoors, because we no longer seem to be able to string together two dry days between each week of rain.

Tourism is a great way to generate funding for the state. But seasonal tourism, like we have, will never support the state. We need a real year-round tourism draw. I’d propose a Gatlinburg-like area in the area of the New River Gorge. We have the Gorge, Hawks Nest and Babcock State Park and the Summersville Lake area. What a year-round draw that would be.

Women are not chattel. We are competent to make decisions concerning the health of our bodies. Without family planning, women will die, needlessly risking their life. This may be your daughter or sister. Have a heart.
