Readers' Vent: June 17, 2019

The Secretary of State for threats (formerly for Diplomacy) blames Iran for recent incidents in the Persian Gulf without giving proof. The President doesn’t trust our Intelligence agencies and the countries he believes in this area would benefit from the U.S. going to war. Remember the Gulf of Tonkin and the Iraq slam-dunk. How many lives? How many billions added to the deficit that will stop rebuilding infrastructure?

While I don’t anticipate it ever happening, it’s comforting to know that if I’m ever served with a subpoena, I can simply ignore it. The precedent set by our nation’s Attorney General says so.

As an outsider who has worked in West Virginia for the past thirty years, it’s not hard to see why WV always places last. Your dedicated school teachers aren’t valued, seldom listened to, and work for practically nothing. Everyone else in West Virginia thinks that Manchin can save the day like Superman. People, get real, this is 2019, try to help yourselves. Try to make some positive changes for the future.

How naive to think the NRA exists because of membership dues. The NRA is a trade association for gun manufacturers masquerading as a shooting sports foundation. It does the bulk of lobbying for the gun industry.

There are two areas of concern for which there seems to be no satisfactory answers: Why do the costs of health care and higher education continue to increase? Astronomically!

The governor should move as easy as that would be; it would be a lot easier than everyone else having to travel for business. It is law for a very good reason. Do it.

Before I had prostate surgery the doctor discussed all options and then explained the procedure with pictures. Women thinking about an abortion should also hear all options and see pictures about that procedure.
