Some on the left are complaining that under the GOP we are ranked 47th in the nation in many categories. I guess they have forgotten under the Democrats we ranked 49th in those same categories. You can’t fix 70 years of mismanagement in 4 to 5 years.

My golfing foursome is composed of members of both major political parties. We all voted for Jim Justice to be our governor. None of us will vote for him again. Save your money governor, pay your bills!

I just took a Sunday drive through the mountains. Until our do-nothing WVDOH decides to start paving roads they need to quit promoting tourism in West Virginia. It’s embarrassing to imagine what visitors think of our state because of our roads.

I once respected the Chamber of Commerce. No more. They support the narrow interests of their rich members over the public good, as most recently shown by their ad for the Senate education bill, that would take money from the public schools and give it to private schools run by out-of-state corporations.

The Catholic Church has just reaffirmed its teachings on sexuality that say anything other than hetero is an abnormal, sinful choice, in total opposition to science. But then the church has a long history of suppressing science to further its own purposes.

I would be OK with a free college program if it was strictly merit based. The race, sex, ethnicity and financial background of the student should play no part. The only requirement should be to carry a 3.7 or higher GPA through both middle and high school in approved classes. Now there’s a program I could and would support.

Summer lunches are being served at schools so students will not have to go hungry. Most parents would have to drive them to school. If you can afford to drive them to school, then just fix them a sandwich at home.

I am so proud to be from a state that takes the importance of vaccinations seriously.
