Readers' Vent: June 12, 2019

To the venter who evidently just heard about climate change recently, “70 years after the dust bowl,” you have not been paying attention. Poisoning the upper atmosphere with excessive CO2 emissions was identified as a serious environmental problem in 1886. It came from London, England, where coal was being burned in every room’s fireplace. Yes, coal was identified and scientifically confirmed as the main Climate Change source 130-plus years ago!

The UMWA supported politicians vowing to shut down the coal industry. Please, please, explain how union officials were working to improve the lives of their dues paying members.

So Jim Justice doesn’t like the idea of switching away from fossil fuels by 2030? It sounds like heaven to me. Wouldn’t it be nice to save a few mountains in the Mountain State? Go solar and create 10 times as many jobs.

Ever wonder why states like North Carolina and Tennessee keep attracting big businesses, grow and prosper while West Virginia loses business and stays at bottom of economic charts. Unions.

Blair always tries to intimidate those whom he perceives as vulnerable. He needs to step down from the Education Committee for dogging the teachers constantly. The best days in education are gone. No teacher can live on the salary paid by the state. I urge any teacher who can, move on! Make a better life for yourself. You deserve more, much more than you’ll ever receive here in West Virginia.

There are only five states, including West Virginia, that do not have some form of charter school. I guess that means West Virginia is on the “cutting edge” of public education. Not.

I am a union member. Neither me nor my coworkers vote Democrat. We simply cannot support the liberal agenda. Sure our union tells us to vote Democrat and many of us are registered Democrats. But we just can’t take the direction the liberals have taken the party.
