Parents’ Night Out: Teays Valley Presbyterian Church will offer a free Parents’ Night Out from 6 to 8 p.m. at the church, 5339 Teays Valley Road in Scott Depot. Parents can bring their children, ages 3 to 11, to the church; fill out a brief registration; meet the volunteers and tour the facility, and then spend a couple hours with some free time. Activities for the children will include crafts, games, refreshments, stories and a movie. The church organizers for the event are encouraging parents with any questions about the activity to call the church office, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. weekdays, at 304-757-6073 or email email@example.com. This will enable planning for the number of children who will be participating. An RSVP by noon on Thursday, May 30, is requested, but not required to participate. Indoor Yard Sale/Hot Dog Sale: The teens of Winfield Nazarene Church, 10822 Winfield Road, Winfield, will host an indoor yard sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Proceeds will help pay for next year’s quizzing material and travels. Hot dogs and desserts will be available for purchase.
Walk with a Doc: A Walk with a Doc walking program will take place from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at Valley Park in Hurricane, beginning at the picnic shelter near the main entrance. Join Mathew W. County Recycle Day: From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Putnam County Recycle Day will take place at the Putnam County Courthouse in Winfield. Among the items that will be accepted are tires (no rims; limit of 10); appliances and scrap metal. No commercial vehicles or contractors are allowed. Cupcake Festival Pageant: The 2019 West Virginia Cupcake Festival Teen-Mrs. Pageant will be held at River Ridge Church in Hurricane from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
ACT Math Prep Review: In preparation for the next ACT, Teays Valley Church of God will host a free math review from 10 a.m. to noon at the church, 185 Connection Point, Scott Depot. The class will be led by a certified math instructor. To register your student, call 304-757-9222. Space is limited.
Packing Day: Teays Valley Church of the Nazarene, 3937 Teays Valley Road, Hurricane, will host its annual Packing Day from 10 a.m. until noon. Participants will pack food boxes for the summer for Putnam County school children. Those taking part are requested to park in the Chapman Funeral Home parking lot.
Democrats’ Picnic: The Putnam County Democratic Women’s Club invites all Democrats and Putnam Countians to the club’s annual picnic, happening at noon at Shelter #2 at the Valley Park Wave Pool in Hurricane. A $5-per-person donation is requested; children under 12 years old will be admitted free. Bring a side dish, dessert, chips or drinks. Hot dogs, baked beans and all the fixin’s will be provided.
