The Mountaineers were previously announced as No. 15 in the USA Today Sports Coaches Poll, released last week.
WVU earned 359 points in the poll. A total of four Big 12 teams appeared in the rankings, including No. 2 Texas (722 points), No. 3 Baylor (709) and No. 22 Oklahoma (143). In addition, Kansas State and Oklahoma State were listed as receiving votes.

West Virginia posted a 24-11 overall record last season, upsetting No. 2 Baylor to win the program’s first-ever Big 12 tournament title. WVU advanced to the second round of the NCAA tournament, falling to Maryland to cap the season.
The Mountaineers open the regular season on Friday, Nov. 10, when they host Central Connecticut State in a 7 p.m. tip at the WVU Coliseum.
