Marshall’s Owen Porter (left) and Koby Cumberlander celebrate after the Herd defeated Notre Dame 26-21 Saturday in South Bend, Ind.

HUNTINGTON — Marshall’s victory at Notre Dame on Saturday shook the makeup of the Associated Press Top 25 poll, but the Thundering Herd remains on the outside looking in.

Following a 26-21 win over the Fighting Irish, then ranked No. 8 in the AP poll, Marshall received 85 voting points from media members across the country, just short of the number needed to crack the Top 25 after a 2-0 start to the season.
