E.J. Phillips dropped in 25 points Wednesday night as South Charleston opened its boys basketball season with an 85-52 win against Riverside in the IOGA Tournament at Glenville State.

Also for the Black Eagles, C.J. Allison and Romeo Dunham each donated 14 points and Quaysean Sutton 13. SC led 53-24 at the half.

For the Warriors (0-3), T.J. Wood tallied 20 points and Jacob Clark 11.

Roane County 59, Ripley 44: Devin Heeter paced the Raiders with 26 points and helped Roane County pick up the home win. Brandon Morris scored 13 points and grabbed six boards. For the Vikings, Griffin Durst scored 12 points. Ty Johnson scored seven points and secured 11 boards to lead both teams.

Mount View 56, Van 47: Aaric Gross scored 18 points and De’moni’ Edwards 16 to lead the host Golden Knights (2-0) to victory. Elijah Barner added 11 points for Mount View. The Bulldogs (1-1) received 21 points from Taylor Jarrell and 12 from Daniel Gibson.

Webster County 92, Richwood 68: Cody Louther scored 20 points and Jared Hamrik scored 18 to lead the visiting Highlanders (2-1) to victory.Jacob Holliday added 23 points for Richwood. The Lumberjacks (0-1) received 14 points from Jared Lester and 14 from Brandon Amik.

Mingo Central 105, Scott 63: Drew Hatfield and Canaan Fletcher each tossed in 21 points as the Miners debuted with a big home win. Also for Mingo Central, Garrett Brown scored 13 points, Jeremy Dillon 10 and Josh Reed 10. For the Skyhawks (1-2), Jon Hamilton tallied 20 points, Jagger Bell 13 and Nathan Kuhn 10.

Spring Valley 62, St. Albans 54: Caleb Folwer had 25 points, Jacob Bailey 21 and the host Timberwolves hit 26 of 33 free throws in earning the win. For the Red Dragons, Rodney Toler scored 27 points and Reggie Jackson 13.

Girls

Parkersburg 78, Riverside 40: Shaylee Kirby scored 13 points leading both teams in scoring. Parkersburg (3-0) also received big games from Addison Watkins and Madi Mace who tossed in 12 points each. For the Warriors (2-3), Tori Martin scored nine points and Carly Price scored eight points.

Poca 65, Herbert Hoover 42: Aubrey Chandler scored 26 points with 18 of those points coming from 3-point distance for the Dots (3-3). Maddie Ord scored 14 points and Taylor Bonnett scored 12 points. For the visiting Huskies (1-3) Ava Young had a big game, scoring 18 points.

Parkersburg South 48, Warren Local, Ohio 42: Devin Hefner scored 23 points and had four key steals in the final two minutes as the visiting Patriots (5-1) rallied to win. Allie Taylor and Makenna Winans tallied 11 points each for South. Kate Liston had 13 for the Warriors (4-1).

Pocahontas County 61, Tygarts Valley 25: Kira Bircher tossed in a career-best 25 points to pace the visiting Warriors to their fourth win. Also for Pocahontas County (4-1), Laila Calhoun added 12 points and 10 rebounds. No player for Tygarts Valley (1-4) scored more than six points.
