Hurricane has climbed into the No. 6 spot in the prep football Class AAA playoff ratings following last week's win against Spring Valley.

The Redskins (4-1) trail only No. 1 Huntington, University, Martinsburg, Musselman and Hedgesville.

Other Mountain State Athletic Conference schools in the running for one of the 16 playoff spots in AAA include Capital (seventh), Spring Valley (eighth), Cabell Midland (ninth), Parkersburg (10th), George Washington and St. Albans (tied for 13th), Riverside (17th) and South Charleston (18th).

In Class AA, Bluefield continues to top the list, with Mingo Central, Liberty Harrison, Fairmont Senior and Bridgeport rounding out the top five.

Among the other contenders are Point Pleasant (eighth), Sissonville (ninth), Wayne (11th), Chapmanville (17th) and Winfield (19th).

St. Marys remains No. 1 in the Class A ratings, with East Hardy, South Harrison, Madonna and Midland Trail completing the first five.

Also in Class A, Tug Valley stands seventh, Webster County eighth, Sherman 11th, Van 15th and Ravenswood tied for 17th.
