Dylan Shaver scored on a 25-yard hook-and-lateral with six seconds remaining to help Parkersburg hold off a late rally and hang on for a 57-51 prep football win over Wheeling Park Friday night in Parkersburg.

Parkersburg jumped out to a 31-7 lead midway through the second quarter, but Park battled back and took a 51-50 lead on Alex Dunlevy’s 32-yard TD pass to Xavier Jones on fourth down with just under a minute remaining.

It wouldn’t be enough, though, as Parkersburg marched down the field and executed a hook-and-lateral from the 25-yard line to get the win.

Jake Johnson led the Big Reds, completing 30 of 43 passes for 429 yards and six touchdowns against just one interception. Brenton Strange caught nine passes for 177 yards and two scores, while Shaver finished with seven catches for 100 yards and two TDs. Also for Parkersburg, Braeden Mason hauled in eight passes for 100 yards and a TD and Tyler Moler rushed for 60 yards and two scores on 20 carries.

For Park, Dunlevy completed 14 of 22 passes for 256 yards and four scores against two picks, while rushing for another 68 yards and a TD on nine carries. Also for the Patriots, Raphael Bradley rushed for 124 yards on 22 totes, Jack Stakem caught seven passes for 156 yards and two scores, and Devaughn McWhorter caught a 4-yard TD pass, rushed for an 8-yard score and returned a kickoff 83 yards for another TD.

Wayne 49, Scott 7: Gunner Harmon accounted for 185 yards and four touchdowns as Wayne blitzed visiting Scott.

Harmon hit on 15 of 20 passes for 176 yards and three scores, while rushing for nine more yards and a TD on three carries, to pace the Pioneers offense, which piled up 438 total yards.

Also for Wayne, Tanner Owens caught eight passes for 77 yards and two scores and rushed for 36 yards on four totes, Ethan Bowens gained 96 yards and two scores on five rushes and Michael Bartram ran for 70 yards on six carries.

For Scott, Caleb Hughes rushed for 97 yards on 11 totes, including a 72-yard scoring scamper.

Nicholas County 39, Roane County 0: Luke LeRose caught five passes for 228 yards and two touchdowns as Nicholas County rolled to a road win over Roane County.

Nicholas quarterback Jared Sagraves completed 11 of 18 passes for 292 yards and two scores — a 94-yard bomb and a 62-yard scoring strike — both to LeRose.

Jacob O’Dell picked up 95 yards and two TDs on 13 carries for the Grizzlies, who gained 445 total yards.
