Nicholas Yoho rushed for 221 yards and three scores on 20 carries as Parkersburg South opened its season with a 27-7 prep football win in Parkersburg on Friday night.

Yoho scored on runs of 82, 10 and 39 yards and caught three passes for 28 yards for the Patriots (1-0), which outgained the Vikings 404 to 168.

South quarterback Brayden Mooney completed 10 of 20 passes for 106 yards, while Dalen King caught two passes for 42 yards and Brandon Penn hauled in three catches for 26 yards.

For Ripley (0-1), RJ Evans ran for 46 yards on 15 carries, while Justin Wheeler completed 2 of 5 passes for 21 yards and a TD – a 26-yard scoring strike to Evan King.

Point Pleasant 42,

Mingo Central 35

Cason Payne scored from 40 yards out with 2:37 left to play as Point Pleasant edged Mingo Central for a road win.

Payne led the Big Blacks (1-0) on offense, accounting for 356 totals yards and four TDs. He completed 14 of 20 passes for 136 yards and two scores, and rushed for 220 yards and two more scores on 17 touches.

Sophomore quarterback Daylin Goad led the Miners, completing 21 of 31 passes for 360 yards and three touchdowns against two interceptions, while rushing for 45 yards and three more scores.

Also for Mingo (0-1), Devin Hatfield hauled in eight catches for 184 yards and Drew Hatfield caught nine passes for 127 yards and a TD.

Ravenswood 42,

Wahama 0

Luke Jackson rushed for 123 yards and a touchdown on just seven carries as Ravenswood rolled to a win in its season-opener at home.

Wayne Stevenson gained 59 yards on three totes, including scoring runs of 39 and 19 yards, and Joe Chambers hauled in a 46-yard TD pass from Max Shelton for the Red Devils (1-0). Also for Ravenswood, Jacob Anthony scored on a 39-yard run and Chase Hood ran in a 10-yard score.

Brady Bumgarner led Wahama, picking up 44 yards on three rushes.

Nicholas County 32,

North Marion 12

Nicholas County rattled off 32 unanswered points as it came from behind to open its season with a road win.

Trailing 12-0 after the first quarter, Nicholas County quarterback Jared Sagrave completed TD passes of 2 and 22 yards and rushed for a 1-yard TD, while Jacob O’Dell scored on a 3-yard run and the Grizzlies’ defense notched a safety to complete the comeback.

Sagraves finished 10 of 19 passing for 85 yards and two Tds to lead the Grizzlies (1-0), while Kiser caught five balls for 47 yards and a score. O’Dell racked up 97 yards and a TD on 25 rushes.
