Ryan Ramiz and Joseph Rosa both launched home runs in the bottom of the first inning, and Steven Moyers turned in six solid innings as the West Virginia Power took down the Asheville Tourists 5-1 Thursday evening at Appalachian Power Park in Charleston.

Moyers (2-1) helped West Virginia (13-6) pick up its fourth straight win overall and eighth consecutive win at APP, allowing just three hits and striking out four against one walk in six shutout innings. Power reliever David Ellingson yielded one run on three hits and struck out four in two innings, and Dayeison Arias closed out the ninth.

After Ramiz and Rosa staked West Virginia to a 3-0 lead, the Power tacked on an insurance run in the fourth on an RBI single by Cesar Izturis Jr. Onil Pena capped the scoring in the seventh, crossing the plate on a wild pitch.

Asheville’s Terrin Vavra singled in Javier Guevara in the top of the seventh for the Tourists’ lone run.

Ramiz finished 1 for 3 with a home run and two RBIs, Pena doubled, and Jarred Kelenic went 1 for 4, extending his hitting streak to 12 games.

Frederis Parra took the loss for Tourists (7-13), allowing four runs on three hits and striking out three in 31/3 innings.

West Virginia and Asheville continue their series at 7:05 p.m. Friday.
