Jake Anchia scored on a catcher’s interference call with Onil Pena batting with the bases loaded in the top of the ninth to lead the West Virginia Power past Lakewood 2-1 Wednesday in Lakewood, New Jersey.

The Power got on the board first in the top of the sixth on a fielding error by Lakewood’s Carlos De La Cruz.

Lakewood responded by tying the game a 1-1 in the bottom of the sixth.

Jarred Kelenic continued his hot streak for the Power, extending his hitting streak to 17 games after getting two hits. Teammate Bobby Honeyman had two hits as well.

David Ellington was the winning pitcher for West Virginia after allowing no hits in the two innings he pitched.

West Virginia moves to 17-7 on the season, while Lakewood drops to 8-18.

Gilbert promoted: Right-handed pitcher Logan Gilbert has been promoted from the West Virginia Power to the high Class A Modesto Nuts, the Seattle Mariners announced Wednesday.

In four starts with the Power, Gilbert, the Mariners’ first-round draft pick in 2018, posted a 1-0 record with a 1.83 ERA. He struck out 30 in 192/3 innings, allowing nine hits and five walks.

To fill the spot, the Power promoted right-handed pitcher Josias De Los Santos from extended spring training.
