West Virginia University men’s basketball standout Jevon Carter was named to the U.S. Basketball Writers Association Oscar Robertson Trophy midseason watch list.

The trophy is awarded annually to college basketball’s national player of the year. Carter is one of three on the 14 player list out of the Big 12, along with Devonte Graham of Kansas and Oklahoma’s Trae Young.

WVU WOMEN’S BASKETBALL: The Mountaineers are ranked No. 20 in the latest Associated Press Poll, released on Monday.WVU (16-4) went 1-1 on the road last week, losing at Oklahoma State with the win coming at Iowa State.

POWER BASEBALL: The West Virginia Power unveiled game times for the 2018 home season at Appalachian Power Park.Monday through Friday games will begin at 7:05 p.m. Saturday contests will have a 6:05 p.m. first pitch, with Sunday games scheduled for 2:05 p.m. The Power begin the season at home on April 5 against the Greenville Drive.•••

WVSU BASKETBALL: West Virginia State’s Robert Fomby has been named the Mountain East Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week.

Fomby averaged 15.5 points, 9.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists as WVSU picked up wins over UVa-Wise and Charleston.
